Our whole ethos is pushing “less impact” to the limit. We turn water around 200 times a day with minimal non-renewable energy consumption while adding oxygen, subtracting CO₂, reducing ammonia and utilizing unused feed to grow oysters and sea cucumbers. We capture solar radiation and use thermal conductivity and temperature gradients for heating and cooling.
We make CIRIOS® fish wholesome by nurturing them as in the wild but using vegan and fish ingredients coming mostly from trimmings so wild fish needn’t be caught solely for feed.
At harvesting, the fish swim effortlessly through gates that select fish of desired market weight, then flow into ice water that acts as an anesthetic before they are mechanically stunned and manually bled. Feed is suspended 48 hours before harvesting to ensure empty viscera for superior shelf life. Blood is drained in the ice water, which rapidly reduces body temperature. The result is no unnecessary hardship, and no blood or lactic acid to demerit the fish’s quality for perfect sashimi and other culinary creations.
